A Moment of Passing

A while back, Alyssa Monks shared moving insights in her TEDx Talk on art. She talked about how she tried another painting style set in nature, to rekindle her flame after her mother’s passing.

It gave me pause to reflect on creative writing as another act of art that penetrates the unknown. Specifically, it conveys the importance of allowing life to freely grace itself into the work. Letting nature’s truths on creation and death, on love and loss, reveal themselves in a more pure, unvarnished way.

When you hear the name R.L. Stine one of the main reactions is instant recognition and of course an association to the man depending on when you joined in on his writing whether you have been there along the way from Welcome to Dead House, or you joined in his teen books with the Fear Street series.
Maybe you even were a late bloomer and didn’t start until he branched into more adult books with his book Red Rain.

For others you may not have heard or read any of his work and honestly this would not be the article for you.

Growing up in central Pennsylvania, I didn’t know too many ghost stories. However, when my mother moved to Wilkes-Barre and I started spending my summers there it all changed.

46 Welles Street in the town of Wilkes-Barre Pa has been a haunted fixture in the community for generations.

I’ve walked past it as a child. The house itself seems normal for the area. It’s greyish asepsis siding and tiny front yard always seemed perfectly normal for that part of town.
