That’s right, Biters. I meant to have this article out for October, but I missed that deadline. But that’s okay because, as goths, we let our Halloween spirit run all year long, including the Winter Solstice / Yule / Christmas.
Most of the iconic slasher killers of the horror movie genre are based on people that existed or still do. Often, the reality is more morbid than a slasher flick. Here’s one of their stories!
The Beginning Of An Iconic Face
Everyone knows the famous 90s Scream movie franchise, its iconic serial killer, and its name, Ghostface. People could know him from his original franchise with “Do you like scary movies?” or the horror movie parody franchise, Scary Movie.
People might not realize, and I didn’t know until recently, that the original Ghostface killer in the Scream franchise was inspired by a real-life serial killer named Danny Rolling.
Gothic Bite Magazine is officially relaunched this week! To kickstart our new beginning, we decided to do a week on how to survive an iconic slasher killer.
Remember The Beginning No One Forgot?
Imagine it. Home alone. Popcorn popping. You are getting ready to watch your favorite horror movie. Then the phone rings. It will most likely be your cell phone because, let’s face it, who really uses a landline anymore? It’s a number you don’t recognize.
Now, most of us would ignore it. We have become a society of texting and not answering nonrecognizable numbers. But what if they keep calling? You block the number.
When you hear the name R.L. Stine one of the main reactions is instant recognition and of course an association to the man depending on when you joined in on his writing whether you have been there along the way from Welcome to Dead House, or you joined in his teen books with the Fear Street series.
Maybe you even were a late bloomer and didn’t start until he branched into more adult books with his book Red Rain.
