Who is Michelle Gallagher?

I am a poet and mom of three from Sacramento, California. I love science, especially astrophysics and I often bring that scientific language into my poetry. I like the juxtaposition of visceral imagery and emotion.

Sandman, A Horror Poem

For the month of April, Gothic Bite Magazine is celebrating the character of Sandman. A mystical character that worked its way into the paranormal world. Here is a poem about the sand throwing man.

Sandman

He is coming through the dilapidated alley
Slowly he’s coming to your window and watches the prey.
And if you look at his gaze you will fall in never land
For he will feed your eyes with his fearsome dreadful sand.
Shhhh here comes the Sandman.

It was a long time ago that I found myself at peace in the night. I’ve always preferred rainy days to the sunlight. I read a lot about vampires and ancient history.

It Happened

Sandman, A Poem

The idea of someone throwing sand in my eyes to have one fall asleep is a creepy thought. Isn’t it?

Scary Granulated Stones

There are not many monsters that scares me, however, when it comes to the Sandman I feel quite disturbed.

He comes in your room at night, throws sand into your eyes and makes you believe it’s for good dreams and yet, I used to have night terrors.

To me, growing up, the Sandman was nothing more that a dreadful evil dust merchant.
