Anglo-Saxon Dangerous Dead Burial In Nottinghamshire

In the Middle Ages, the rise of many beliefs creeping out of ancient folklore surfaced. One of them is the vampire, alongside witches that were common and werewolves. In modern times, when digging in the ‘old country,’ one might find rather strange burials.

The Middle Ages Fortune-Tellers

Back in Medieval Times, people didn’t have meteorologists to explain Mother Nature’s behaviour. They didn’t have the luxury of biologists telling them not to drink stagnant water. Instead, people had other ways to explain diseases and poor crops.

People of the Middle Ages often tried to find someone to blame, and it would come from dark places. With the Church spreading its wings across Europe, witchery was the popular belief.

An Evil King In A Most Unforgiving Time

In the Dark Ages, technology and discoveries were stagnant. Yet, to this day, creative minds dive into history to grab a piece of its history. While some things stood still, the battle for kingdoms had begun. Reign of Mad Kings roared over lands, and Æthelred II was one of them.

Dark Ages Fun Fact & Warning

A Dark Ages fun fact: people had no surnames or family names. In fact, they had either sobriquets or a nickname to separate them from others wearing the same first name. For that reason, many last names today carry words that once meant something different.

I should warn you that this article is about Æthelred II, ‘the Unready’ from later in history and not based on the fantastic character from the television series, The Last Kingdom. Those are two different Æthelred II. While native from the same kingdom apart in time.

Moloch, One Of The Abominations Of Demon Kings

Moloch is a demon often used in horror for various reasons. However, he needs a representation of his identity and what he does. So, let’s dive into the history and folklore surrounding this deity.

Fall Back Means Vampires Are Coming Out Of The Coffin

Daylight saving time might go back to the first world war when electricity and power weren’t abundant but still something we practise in many countries to this day. But it means something entirely different for people like me.

This Is Not A History Class

When it’s time to ‘Fall Back,’ I get quite excited. It’s not because of the one more hour of sleep illusion, but because there will be less daylight. Society targets people like me when most agree that the sun is the main power for humankind as we function better and see better, including Vitamin D and E.

For as long as time, humankind progressed in daylight. It’s a general consensus that society made it ‘normal’ for people to work during the day and sleep at night. Not aware of places where daylight is less abundant all year round and is home to many people. Of course, those places are situated toward the poles but exist and are welcoming.

The Vampire Disease. Many people heard of it but do people really know what it is? Or what it means to the people who live with it? I have the illness at a mild level. Here’s how it goes!

Beware, Vampires Are Out Of The Coffin! Really, Read The Warning!

This article contains graphic descriptions of the medical condition widely spread as ‘Vampire Disease’ and its symptoms. The following article is an in-depth dive into the illness and what it implies, and what it is like for people like me to live with this condition.

If you are sensitive to medical tools, treatment, and physical descriptions of diseases, I recommend skipping this article. Because the illness can relate to mental disorders, I also recommend ensuring all readers are comfortable with the nervous system and brain illnesses.

Batman’s The Joker Is The Greatest Villain And Here Is Why

Have you ever thought about the psychological state of Batman’s villains? I do. So, let’s dive in and learn more about the worst that Gotham has to offer!

How It Started For Joker

In Spring 1940, the Joker made its first appearance in Batman #1. A few of us don’t know that he was meant to be a one-issue villain. We know that he is Batman’s archnemesis, but he is also a criminal mastermind. So, let’s see about the Joker’s psychological file!

However, due to his popularity, the prankster continued his journey in the comic book. Despite his popularity, reinvented as a harmless villain, the Joker fell into the abyss until the 70s.

Lifestyle-Shaming Is A Normal People Thing

Humans are solar-powered for the most part. But, what if you’re just a goth? Learning that you are a nocturnal creature goes against society’s beliefs. Either that or you’re young partying too much.

From Dusk Till Dawn

Lifestyle-shaming is a normal people thing. This is something quite interesting, isn’t it?

We see the people we love getting up when we go to bed. We get laughed at or criticised for living in the night. People believe we aren’t normal, and we hear the same sentences repeatedly.

A Real Vampire Burial

It was customary to bury them differently than people. Back in the day, when populations believed in witches, werewolves and vampires, one was never safe from gossip or vampires.

Vampires In All History

The word vampire might have had various meanings throughout human history, but it did travel the world. Since the dawn of time, creatures with mortal bites have made it into legends and folklores. But what about a real vampire burial?

Find in all civilisations known to humankind, even those that never met, a vampire-like creature made it into history.

Goth Shaming Is A Thing It Is Dreadful

When someone says “goth” or “gothic,” most people automatically think of Marilyn Manson or scary-looking people. Being goth is so much more than that.

I Was Goth Before I Knew It

At thirty-seven years old, I believe I do know a big chunk of myself. I think I was born goth. I just didn’t know it. Or maybe I knew it, but the people raising me didn’t want me to be goth. They tried and shoved the Barbie look down my throat. It didn’t work. Goth shaming is a thing and it is dreadful.

My grandparents raised me. I am an only child, and so is my mother. As for my father, he left not long after I was born, never to return. My grandpa loved me no matter what I looked like. But, my grandmother was all about appearances. She never shied away from letting me know she wanted me to have blond hair and be lady-like.

How To Survive An Iconic Slasher Killer Like Freddy

Gothic Bite Magazine is officially relaunched this week! To kickstart our new beginning, we decided to do a week on how to survive an iconic slasher killer.

Surviving Night Terrors

WARNING: Mention of Rape | Pedophilia | Molester | Night/Sleep Terrors | Anxiety.

Living with night terrors all my life had me meet a few therapists. Cursed with horrid nightmares and feeling pain through terror, I learned lucid dreaming. My fear of going to bed also developed insomnia. So, how to survive an iconic slasher killer like Freddy?

I am a light sleeper. Any faint sound can wake me as well as light. I need a white noise machine to muffle uneven noises. If I can feel or see light, as I often sleep with eyes half closed, I wake up, and it’s almost impossible to fall back asleep.

The Walking Dead Syndrome

We don’t understand or have discovered many things about the human brain yet. We don’t know how powerful it can be. One delusion remains a mystery, Cotard’s Syndrome.

Ask A Mortician She’ll Answer

Tonight, when going to bed, my husband and I turned on the television and YouTube. We watched our regular channels, including Ask A Mortician, hosted by Caitlin Doughty. She talked about a real and fascinating brain disorder, Cotard’s Syndrome. So, are you human, vampire or the walking dead?

Caitlin Doughty has a unique way of explaining a complicated subject and turning it into a simplistic way of understanding. I love how she expresses herself and uses her humor to take something morbid and make it relatable. For that reason, I had to know more.

Exploring The Darker Side Of Human Nature In Fiction by Jane Jordan

What is dark romance? That was a question I was asked recently. Dark romance should tantalize the senses. It can be tragic or uplifting, but it has to explore the darker side of human nature.

*** JANE JORDAN IS THE AUTHOR OF THIS ARTICLE DESPITE LISTED AS ARIELLE BELLE LYON ***

A Little History

For me, as a novelist, it means a captivating romantic story that is dangerous and seductive, a tale that will lure readers with gothic tension and richly textured prose.

Historically, dark romance has been categorized as a literary subgenre of romanticism, an academic and artistic movement in Europe in the late eighteenth century. The defining characteristic of romanticism was an emphasis on emotion.
