The Dark Artistic Side of Rose Black

Throughout history, the word Gothic grew to mean many things. At first it was a reference to the late Dark Ages architecture. Then, it became a fashion statement before we decided to refer to it as art and a lifestyle.

Definition of Gothic

Gothic architecture is a style that flourished in Europe during the High and Late Middle Ages. It evolved from Romanesque architecture and was succeeded by Renaissance architecture.

Originating in 12th-century France, it was widely used, especially for cathedrals and churches, until the 16th century. But now it is more than just architecture, it is a lifestyle. — Wikipedia

Interview with Rose Black

QUESTION: What had you realize you wanted to paint?

ROSE BLACK: When I was a little girl, I intensively watched my surroundings. Since then, I’ve been drawing a lot. For some time now I have been painting things that concern me and people.

QUESTION: How did you come up with your pen name?

ROSE BLACK: One day I discovered a wild rose in woodlands.  It was so deep red that it almost looked black. Since then the rose never left my mind.

QUESTION: What are the styles and themes of your art?

ROSE BLACK: My art represents the other side of existence that most people like to oppress. Subjects move me and so I can process those at the same time.  I am a Gothic artist. You can see it clearly on my DeviantArt page.

QUESTION: What is Leipzig and scene?

ROSE BLACK: Leipzig is the city of the WGT also known as Wave Gothic. There is also a restaurant for like-minded people.

QUESTION: Who are your role models?

ROSE BLACK: I admire artists who flourish in their uniqueness. With that being said, I admire H.R. Giger, Salvador Dali, Albrecht Dürer, and Victoria Francés.

QUESTION: Where can we find your art?

ROSE BLACK: My pictures are for sale. There is also a more affordable way to order my work which would be as an art print. To see more, click on ANUBIS.

I also offer fantasy paintings, portraits. I realize as a fantasy fan my spectrum is in this regard. However, I have a wider range and can do realistic portraits, as well as animal portraits.

If you are interested. I do take commissions.
