When I was younger, my passion for horror movies got me intrigued about a variety of subjects. I only had about two friends. We would go to the video store and choose horror movies.
There was that one with a horrible face and red title, Night of the Demons. I had to watch it.
The Summary
On the night of Halloween, ten teens decide to go to a party at an abandoned funeral parlor, “Hull House,” rumored to be built on an evil patch of land & underground stream.
While starting the party, the teens gather around a big mirror to perform a seance, BIG MISTAKE. They awakened some evil force and found themselves trapped and taken over one by one.
Now it’s a battle for who can survive and cross over the stream before going to hell. — Written by Crystal, IMDb
Halloween Party
The overall look of the movie is what makes it look cheesy. Despite its late eighties release date of 1988, some of the graphics can be quite cheesy while the story itself is original in my own opinion.

Private party in a funeral home otherwise known as the old crematorium, fire in the hearth, a mirror on the side and everyone is costumed for the occasion. The one knowing all about hauntings and demons is named Angela and of course, is the one on the cover of the movie.
While there is an erotic scene, it isn’t the main attraction of the movie, and the paranormal activity had already started. It’s easily overlooked by the demonic presence spreading all around the house. It left me wondering what would happen next.
Not Ghosts, Demons!
There are not that many horror movies out there treating about the paranormal instead of the killers and torturous devices. Night of the Demons might be cheesy in its look, but the information given by Angela at the beginning of the movie is accurate and documented.

Also, we’re not talking about a haunted house. We’re talking about portal dragging you to hell. There is no haunting in that movie. Only demons caught loose in a crematorium on a Halloween night!
Cheesy vs. Interesting
The movie actually is a trilogy, but I’ve only watched the first two, and therefore I won’t be commenting on the third one. The 1994 sequel, Night of the Demons 2, is less exciting than its predecessor but still, have some interesting scenes.

I wouldn’t compare it to the original, but if you enjoy the first, it could be nice to know what happens next. I’ll leave it at that.
It might not be the best horror movie out there, but Night of the Demons is a guilty pleasure of mine. I enjoyed the story and the information about the paranormal, the character of Angela, intriguing and knowledgeable while fighting demons instead of ghosts to me were original.
My Favorite
Yes, Night of the Demons is my favorite cheesy movie. It has everything I enjoy, the eighties, the crematorium, Halloween, spook and a little cheesiness. It hits a high 9/10 on my personal spooky goosebumps scale!
