In 2003 the world was not ready for what was coming to the world of horror.
Rob Zombie previously had been significant in the world of music with some saying his music videos were like horror movies unto themselves.
You could tell his passion for the craft. His first full-length movie rocked the horror genre and set up favorites in his films that would come back for more like Sid Haig, Sheri Moon, and Bill Moseley.
The Summary
In House of 1000 Corpses, two young couples take a misguided tour onto the back roads of America in search of a local legend known as Dr. Satan.
Lost and stranded, they are set upon by a bizarre family of psychotics. Murder, cannibalism and satanic rituals are just a few of the 1000+ horrors that await. Written by Anonymous, IMDb
The Backwoods
The story for this film is a road trip with 2 couples searching the backwoods of Texas searching for urban legends involving murder and gore. They get far more than they bargained for as they become the prisoners of a bizarre and twisted backwoods family of serial killers.

A House of a 1,000 Corpses movie probably is one of the more demented movies on our lists that I have reviewed save Martyrs; this one certainly earned its R rating. As a side note, those who may be squeamish beware that this holds no punches. This movie, and honestly any of Rob Zombie‘s films, warrants a prep session. Mine involved popcorn.
Foundations of Horror
House of 1,000 Corpses is not a film I watch often, but it is one that shook the foundations of horror. I remember when this came out in theatre and it was unlike anything genre offered at the time.

I do prefer The Devil’s Rejects, which is the follow up to this story, but that said this one is the intro to the family that spawned a generation of different horror fans. I fully appreciate what this film did and is.
The Good Horror
Based on all of this, this film review earns 10/10 bloody cleavers. It gives us a taste of what having no purpose aside from the love of gore gives us.

A terrifying wild ride that we get amazing to follow up to in the story.
