Sharknado - 2013

Sharknado Anyone?

So let’s be fair here, this movie does belong in the cheesy category.

The over the top action, the one-liners, the death scenes, it all adds up to a movie you would expect to see in the cheesy category.

To be fair though, just because it is cheesy doesn’t mean we can’t like it right?

The Summary

When a freak hurricane swamps Los Angeles, nature’s deadliest killer rules sea, land, and air as thousands of sharks terrorize the waterlogged populace. — IMDb

A Must See, wait what?

Released in 2013 and with quite a bevy of sequels, Sharknado introduced us to what would happen if sharks were pulled from the sea and brought onto land in a tornado. Not only that but all these weather phenomena is causing the water to rise so high ground is a must.

We follow a small group of people trying to survive and fighting their way to safety. Battling all manner of sharks along the way and just trying to stay alive.

As a Jaws fan and a shark fanatic, this is a guilty pleasure for me. I can’t say the same for the following movies, but this one caught my funny bone and didn’t go into the realm of too cheesy for me.

A B Movie

I treated this one like I would any “B” movie, not necessarily there for the story but if the death scenes were good, I would sit there and watch for those.

What Tara Reid and Ian Ziering both did well in this made for TV movie. They do come back in following movies which take the comedy portion and run a little more freely with it.

This movie earns 7 out 10 Bloody Cleavers for me; it is fun to watch and even earned its cult following. The sixth and final one in the series came out just this past August. We shall have to wait and see if it indeed is, in fact, the last in the series.
