IT by Stephen King

IT deserves a Review!

All right, so, let me tell you that I am a horror movie fan from way back.

My dad fed me a steady diet of great films as a kid; a vast majority of them were horror films.

I distinctly remember the event of the original It series when it debuted on television as a kid, and it quickly became one of my all-time favorites. It was also one of my gateways to reading Stephen King for the first time.

The Summary

In the Town of Derry, the local kids are disappearing one by one. In a place known as ‘The Barrens’, a group of seven kids are united by their horrifying and strange encounters with an evil clown and their determination to kill It.

Pennywise Is Back

So, imagine my surprise when they announced the remake. I quickly gobbled up every little bit I could find out about the remake through social media and various other avenues on the internet.

I immediately fell in love with the design they were presenting for Pennywise the Clown. Let me tell you, Bill Skarsgård, as the Clown was beautiful.

Leave It To Imagination

So, let me tell you this much. The opening sequence of It alone was perfect, the rain, Georgie and his little paper boat, the storm drain, and history. The original made for TV version didn’t show a lot.

Instead, it left a lot to the viewers’ imagination as to what happened to the poor boy. The remake did not; it showed you every single terror drenched moment, a trend that continued throughout the rest of the film.

The cast they picked for the kids was perfect, and you could see they all had a love of Stephen King’s original work. Many readers were pleased with the way things played out in this movie.

Impressively Redone

It is one of those rare remakes that do the original justice, and with the sequel on the way, scheduled for a 2019 release, many fans are awaiting the second chapter with as much anticipation as I am.

If you are a horror fan, a Stephen King fan, it makes no difference; this movie is more than worth the time to watch be it alone in the dark or with your significant other over a bowl of popcorn.

A+
